I’m Kalina, a multidisciplinary designer creating products and experiences that are highly functional, accessible, and intuitive. I am currently pursuing an MS in Design at Stanford University's d.school, concentrating in digital design + emerging tech, working to grow my skills in empathetic design thinking and finding a niche that blends design work with missions that I care deeply about.
Previously, I was the mechanical engineer responsible for the design of the air cathode assembly in
Form Energy's multi-day battery to enable a reliable, secure, and fully renewable electric grid year-round. This work involved designing complex injection molded parts, sealing methods, and air flow fields from concept generation to production.
Other interests include (but are not limited to) pottery, playing the cello, saber fencing, travelling, cooking, and reading (almost everything, but especially science fiction). I surround myself with activities and experiences that allow me to be in a constant state of wonder at the creations of others (music, technique, recipes, narratives!), and this serves as inspiration for my own creativity.
